We'd wondered for a long time about which SUV would take out this hotly contested category. The Prado just edged out the Ford Territory by the slimmest of margins. Interestingly, Prado also took out the prize for best All Terrain 4WD in Australia's Best Cars awards for 2004. The extensive Prado range begins with the GX model priced at $44,170* going up to the Grande at $73,510*. Engine choices include a powerhouse 4.0 litre quad cam petrol V6 or the very torquey 3.0 litre 4 cyl turbo diesel. Throughout the range you'll find features such as 17" wheels, power windows, power steering, CD player, remote central locking, engine immobiliser, front driver and passenger SRS airbags and 6 cup holders. Simply a great example of a modern SUV.
