The Carsales Network People's Choice Awards - the only new car vote that counts

Australia's number one place to buy, sell and research cars, the Carsales Network, has expanded the scope of its People's Choice Awards for 2007.

The People's Choice Awards were updated last year to better reflect the nature of the awards. The only Australian automotive awards where real car shoppers determine the winners, last year we fine tuned the categories to align (where possible) with the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries' (FCAI) new vehicle sales reporting segments. These changes bring the award categories into line with the way you shop for cars -- and ultimately buy them.

Now with the Carsales Network expanding in 2007, we have also extended the awards to include the votes of car shoppers from a wide spectrum of websites. Key additions are the leading new car shopping destinations, DiscountNewCars.com.au and PrestigeNewCars.com.au

The addition of DiscountNewCars.com.au and PrestigeNewCars.com.au is in addition to those sites already included from the wider Carsales Network. These include new car buyers' votes from websites including RACV, RACWA, RedBook and St George Bank.

The end result is an even more broadly based poll of serious car buyers. In this regard, the Carsales Network People's Choice Awards truly is unique...


How the voting works

During 2007, Carsales Network users conducted millions of searches and sent hundreds of thousands of enquiries on both new and used cars. As a result, we can determine exactly which new car models Australian car buyers are looking at, and indeed, enquiring to buy.

From that point, there is nothing tricky at all about how each category is awarded. They are not chosen by our journalists or car testers, or manufacturers, or industry bodies -- the decision is via popular vote by Australian car shoppers.

From November 1, 2006 to October 31, 2007, every time a Carsales Network user placed an enquiry on a new car - whether that enquiry be on carsales.com.au, CarPoint.com.au, DiscountNewCars.com.au or any of our other affiliated sites -- the enquiry counted as a vote towards the 2007 People's Choice Awards.

As such, the Carsales Network People's Choice Awards recognise and reward the most popular new cars of 2007.

No tricks or elaborate score sheets. No opinions other than those of the car buying public... Think of the Carsales Network People's Choice Awards as the ultimate popularity contest for new cars in Australia. It's that simple!
