The big Aussie sedan continued to hold its own in a market looking to downsize for fuel savings, and this year faced some stiff competition among its segment with the new FG Ford Falcon range and a bigger and feature-packed Honda Accord in both four and six-cylinder variants. Holden's fortunes were boosted when the company introduced a line-up of wagons mid year, adding further interest to the Commodore VE range.
