Anyone can be an expert when it comes to buying cars. Online vehicle research tools, our news and reviews, and expert advice guides are all available to buyers looking to make the right verdict on a car for purchase.
So when it comes to deciding which car is best, we follow what most takes your interest. Each year we count the number of online enquiries made for every make and model available to the Australian auto buyer.

Votes are collected from the Carsales Network's wide spectrum of websites, including Australia's number 1 auto site carsales.com.au, CarPoint.com.au and Redbook.com.au, as well as leading new car shopping destinations, DiscountNewCars.com.au and PrestigeNewCars.com.au.
The cars with the highest number of sales interest top the ‘most popular' lists for each segment. It's a clear indication of which new cars on sale have earned the driving public's favour, as decided Carsales Network's visitors which number in the thousands every day.
This year, some surprise results emerged aside from the usual well-earning segment stars. Mazda again took a hat-trick winning the light, small and medium categories, and Holden Commodore remains king of the large car class but the local brand's Korean-built Captiva beat Toyota Prado to the post, and new entry Audi Q5 was most popular in its class.
Other models making their debut during 2008-2009 also worried the favourites by figuring as runners up, which should make next year's PCA interesting after more time on sale.
Meanwhile, here's this year's results.
