Money can't buy you love... But it can buy you a new car that you'll love... And that's just the sort of emotion that drives the voting in the Carsales People’s Choice Awards.
The only new car of the year award that tallies new car buyers' preferences, the Carsales People’s Choice Awards is a genuine measure of the Australian new car buying public's affiliation with, and affection for, vehicle brands and individual models.
Each year we tally the number of online enquiries made for every make and model available to the Australian new car buyer. Your votes are collected from carsales' network of websites, including Australia's number one auto site carsales.com.au, CarPoint.com.au, motoring.com.au and Redbook.com.au, as well as leading new car shopping destinations, DiscountNewCars.com.au and PrestigeNewCars.com.au.
There’s no magic nor formulas used to decide the winners -- and as they say, the judge's decision is final. Simply the cars with the highest number of sales inquiries top the ‘most popular' lists for each segment. It's a clear indication of which new cars on sale have earned the driving public's favour, and by definition, their recommendation.
And it seems that in some of the most hotly contested segments the masses are on the move. Holden Cruze displaced Mazda 3 in the Small car class and Ford Fiesta flicked Suzuki Swift in Light cars. Jeep's excellent new Grand Cherokee was a new face in the Luxury SUV segment.
Nissan repeated its hat-trick in the ute, compact SUV and sportscar categories and Holden was the only other brand to take three PCA gongs -- Large car, Medium SUV and Cruze's award noted above. In total, four categories were taken out by new winners in 2011.
carsales extends its congratulations to all of the winners of the 2011 Carsales People’s Choice Awards. To the winners the spoils...
