Mercedes has announced the availablility of an exclusive limited-edition CLS 55 AMG.
Debuted in conjunction with top-end Swiss watch brand, IWC Schaffhausen, just 55 of the CLS 55 AMG "IWC Ingenieur" will be produced worldwide with a scant five units destined for Australia. No price has yet been announced, however ,we're betting it will be substantially more than the $247,500 a standard CLS 55 will set you back.
The car uses the same AMG-fettled running gear as the standard CLS 55but boasts exclusive equipment details including bespoke colours and finishes and a newly designed AMG instrument cluster based on the new "Ingenieur" watch family from IWC.
The CLS 55 AMG "IWC Ingenieur" features exclusive dark titanium grey metallic paint. All of the exterior decorative elements, including the radiator grille louvres, fog light rings, side window bezels, handle inserts and rear trim, come in the same matt titanium colour, which matches the titanium case of the new "Ingenieur AMG" watch from IWC.
IWC will produce 55 limited-edition "IWC Ingenieur Automatik CLS 55 AMG" watches which will offered exclusively to customers of the CLS 55 AMG "IWC Ingenieur".
The very first IWC "Ingenieur" was produced in 1955, and only 1,000 were ever made. Today they are sought-after collectors' items.
