HOLDEN CREWMAN

The Thunder Ute and Crewman deliver up to $3500 of added value says Holden

With Holden's all-new VE Commodore now months rather than years away, the unofficial runout campaign has begun at GM Holden headquarters. Special, limited and value-added editions play a large part in any such campaign -- don't expect the Lion to be any different in the lead up to VE.

The latest value-added editions to hit the hustings are the Thunder Ute and Crewman which, according to Holden, deliver buyers up to $3500 in extra value. They hit Holden dealerships this month.

V8-engined Thunder SS models and V6-equipped Thunder S models will be offered. The Thunder SS Ute and Crewman are powered by Holden’s latest Gen 4 V8 engine which delivers 260kW/510Nm. The V6 gets a 172kW version of the 3.6-litre Alloytec V6.

A special colour range is offered across the Thunders (not all models in all colours, though) and the Thunder SS Ute gets colour-coded leather seats. The rest of the Thunder range gets Anthracite leather seating.

In addition to special edition 'Thunder' badging, standard exterior equipment upgrades on the Thunders are detailed as follows:

  • Sports Hard Tonneau – S Ute, SS Ute
  • Hard Tonneau – SS Crewman
  • 17-inch alloy wheels – SS Crewman (alloy spare)
  • 18-inch alloy wheels – S Ute (steel spare), SS Ute (alloy spare)

Pricing kicks off from $33,990 for the manual Thunder S Ute. The Thunder SS Crewman tops off the special offerings at $48,690 (manual or auto).
