The Australian PCOTY contenders were the above top three, plus HSV's GTO Coupe and ClubSport DTS, Falcon XR8 and FPV Falcon GT.

MOTOR Magazine editor, Jesse Taylor, said “FPV's F6 Typhoon is equally at home on the road or getting belted around a race track. It does it all well and really is a complete package. That's why it wins the title of Australian Performance Car of the Year."

The Australian PCOTY award preceedings features in the April 2006 edition of MOTOR. June will see the Euros fight it out, while September will pit the US, the rest of the world and Japan's best head to head.
