AUDI RS4

Audi's RS 4 Avant will join its sedan sibling in October, while the hot cabrio is expected early 2007

Audi is offering its RS 4 Avant for sale in October and will follow with the RS 4 Cabriolet in January 2007.

The RS 4 range combines a host of Audi's latest technology including a new rear-drive-biased Quattro system and an all-new powerplant with direct petrol fuel-injection. The 4.2-litre V8 engine develops a peak of 309kW and 430Nm of torque at 5500rpm. Naturally aspirated, Audi claims the V8 delivers 90 per cent of its top torque from 2250-7600rpm.

Prices for the RS 4 Avant will start at $168,100. Standard features include deluxe automatic air-con, remote central locking, parking assist front and rear, 'concert' radio system and sports suspension with DRC variable damping.

According to Audi, already 15 customers have ordered the $187,500 Cabriolet. The open-top RS 4 features the same equipment as the sedan and Avant models but also gets sports seats with driver's electric adjustment and memory function, silk nappa leather, S4-style exterior mirrors in RS matt aluminium finish with automatic dimming and memory functions, front seat heating and wind deflector.
