Spring has almost sprung but Volvo's convertible C70 won't be available locally until Summer, despite Volvo Australia's plans for a launch in September.
According to a newsletter emailed to potential customers the C70 has been delayed until November due to "the car's overwhelming popularity and demand around the world".
The second-generation C70 will be offered in two versions: the C70 LE, equipped with a 2.4-litre five-cylinder engine with five-speed auto, and C70 T5, with 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder and five-speed auto. C70 T5 buyers can opt for a six-speed manual as a no-cost option. A manual version of the LE will also be available, although it features a five-speed gearbox.
Volvo has equipped the convertible with its new 'ROPS' or Roll Over Protection System which detects danger of roll-over and can activate extending bars to increase space between the car and ground. The new C70 also features door-mounted curtain airbags, and Volvo's SIPS (Side Impact Protection System) and WHIPS (Whiplash Protection System) are standard on both models.
The C70 seats four and features a three-fold retractable hard-top, activated while stationary, with heated rear glass. Prices start at $69,950 for the C70 LE and $79,950 for the C70 T5.
