VOLVO C70

Volvo will drop the roof on its new C70 in time for Spring

Volvo has announced it local launch timing and pricing for the all-new hard-top C70 coupe-cabriolet.

The all-new second-generation C70 will arrive Down Under in time for Spring. It will be offered in two specification levels -- both "highly equipped" says the maker.

Priced from $69,950, the C70 LE features a naturally aspirated 125kW 2.4-litre five-cylinder engine mated with a five-speed auto box. The $79,950 C70 T5 gets Volvo's muscular 162kW 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder. Also standard with a five-speed auto, buyers can opt for a six-speed manual box as a no cost option. A manual version of the LE will also be available, although it features a five-speed gearbox.

Volvo says the C70's arrival marks an intensive new model launch period for the maker. Following the C70 will be the new S80 premium sedan with 4.4-litre V8 and all-wheel drive, while the C30 three-door hatch will arrive in mid-year 2007. Also set for an update soon is the XC90 SUV.
