Jaguar has bumped up the price of the entry-level X-Type 2.1 LE by $1000, but that impost is offset by extra value features.
While rumours continue to circulate about the long-term strategy parent company Ford will formulate for the British luxury car builder (more here), Jaguar is going on its merry way, re-styling the X-Type to bring it into line with other Jaguar models.
The new model can be identified by the mesh grille insert, but the big changes are underneath.
Many former options are now fitted as standard equipment across the X-Type range, resulting in a substantial boost for the packaging of the base X-Type 2.1 in particular.
Jaguar estimates the added value to be $9000, but the price of the base car has risen by just $1000.
These additional features for the 2008 model year are:
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
Electric fold-in mirrors
Front and rear floor mats
Sliding front armrest
Head restraints for all three rear seat positions
10-way electrical adjustment on drivers and passenger's front seats
Memory function with three position settings for driver's seat and exterior mirrors
17-inch 'Belize' alloy wheels on LE model
Lumbar support is added to the electrically adjustable seats for the new model year.
On sale from August, the X-Type upgrade is priced as follows:

2.1 V6 Sport $57,490
3.0 V6 LE $69,990
