HYUNDAI TUCSON

Hyundai releases Hyundai Tucson City with manual transmission and Elite model

Hyundai has expanded its Tucson range with the addition of manual transmission and Elite variants of the Tucson City.

The inclusion of a manual version to the Tucson line-up means the range now starts at $24,990 for the SX (entry) specification.

Front-wheel drive only, the Tucson City with five-speed manual transmission returns more favourable fuel consumption figures than its auto equivalent -- a claimed 8lt/100km. This compares to 9.2lt/100km for the Selectronic four-speed auto model, which is still available at a $2000 premium.

The City is equipped with the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine as fitted to the Elantra, rated at 104kW/184Nm. Standards include air-conditioning with pollen filter, ABS with EBD, 16-inch alloy wheels including the spare wheel, cruise control, leather rim steering wheel and gearshift knob, remote entry with alarm, power windows and mirrors, dual front airbags, WMA and MP3-compatible CD/FM/AM audio with four music mode graphic equalizer, roof rails, front and rear fog lights and a luggage area blind.

Following the lead of models in the V6-equipped Tucson line-up, the City is now also offered in 'Elite' specification, starting at $29,990.

The Elite Tucson City is available with selectronic only and gets features above the SX model including: ESP with integrated traction control, curtain cabin-side airbags, side thorax airbags in the front seats, electric tilt/slide sunroof, seats trimmed with leather side bolsters and cloth centre pads, five-mode trip computer,  six-speaker audio and auto headlights on function.
