ALFA ROMEO 147

Italian car maker celebrates MotoGP World Championship win by Casey Stoner with a limited edition model 147 -- a diesel

A Formula One Ducati and a diesel-powered small car would seem to be polar opposites. Nonetheless, Alfa Romeo has developed a limited edition model based on the 147 small car with a turbodiesel engine, to mark Aussie rider Casey Stoner gaining the MotoGP World Championship title for 2007.

The diesel 147 model is named the 147 Ducati Corse, and, with the 127kW turbodiesel engine, the special 147 can reach a top speed of 215km/h and sprint from rest to 100km/h in 8.0 seconds.

A torque-sensing differential provides optimum traction from the engine, which offers a different throttle response modulated to suit race-track driving via an electronically-adjustable accelerator pedal.

The 147 Ducati Corse is fitted with an exclusive design of 18-inch alloy wheels, shod with 225/40 R18 tyres. Visually, the car is distinguished by Ducati badging, satin-finish exterior mirrors, red brake calipers, a rear spoiler, sports instrumentation, aluminium-face pedals and sports seats trimmed in black leather and red stitching.

Priced at $41,098, the 147 Ducati Corse is available in a choice of three colours, Etna Black, Ice White or Giulietta Red. Alfa Romeo has secured an allocation of 20 units for the Australian market.
