Fresh from winning Wheels magazine's Car of the Year award with the Accord Euro, Honda Australia is using its other Accord to celebrate its 40th Anniversary.

A special edition Accord has just been launched featuring a raft of improvements to tempt customers. It joins the growing list of 'Limited Edition' models that car companies are offering to clear excess stock after the slow down in sales since the economy hit trouble.

The 40th Anniversary Accord is powered by a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 133kW and 222Nm. A five-speed automatic gearbox comes as standard. Honda claims fuel consumption of 8.8L/100km.

To help clear stock in the current sales climate Honda is sweetening the deal for anyone who buys the limited edition in January. For the rest of the month Honda will include free registration and CTP insurance, a five year warranty and five years 24 hour roadside assistance in the $31,440 price.

Other additions to the special edition include fog lights, rear parking sensors, Bluetooth, floor mats, illuminated door sills and 40th Anniversary badging.
