The Nissan Patrol may be approaching a decade in service but its replacement is still at least two years away from Australian shores. That's the latest news from Nissan Australia CEO Dan Thompson.
As previously reported (more here) Nissan is committed to keeping the iconic nameplate alive. But the global economic crisis and other issues appears to have put the Patrol on the backburner.
"There is a new Patrol in the pipeline," says Thompson. "Several years out though. At least two years out from now for us."
Sales in the large SUV segment are down over 40 per cent so far this year and Jeep has announced it will not continue with its Patrol rival, the Commander. That leaves the Toyota Landcruiser as the Patrol's only opposition in the segment.
So if you are interested in a new Patrol then you will need to be patient to at least 2011.
