BMW is launching an updated version of the 6 Series Sport Coupé and Convertible in Australia this month, priced from $227,000 (not including government or delivery charges).
The high-end BMW 6 Series adds a range of technologies from its EfficientDynamics toolshed to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions, while subtle exterior changes delineate the new models, such as a more flowing bonnet new look wheels.
"The new BMW 650i Sport further shapes the top end of the BMW product portfolio and signals yet another example of BMW's uncompromised BMW EfficientDynamics strategy," said BMW Group Australia managing director Stavros Yallouridis.
Both the 650i Sport Coupé and 650i Sport Convertible are powered by updated 4.8-litre naturally aspirated V8 engines.
Despite BMW's top shelf duo having been engineered to perform, developing 270kW/490Nm and producing enough thrust to reach 100km/h from rest in under 6 seconds, fuel economy has been improved by more than five per cent compared to their predecessors.
Thanks to fuel saving features such as brake energy regeneration, the BMW 650i Sport Coupé uses 10.5L/100km, compared to the previous 11.1L/100km. The Convertible makes even bigger inroads, dropping from 11.7L/100km to 10.9L/100km.
On top of a new look bonnet, the new 6 Series models gain larger 19-inch alloy wheels shod with low profile tyres: 245/40 at the front and 275/35 at the rear.
The interiors of the new 6 Series have also benefitted from a raft of upgrades, adopting the latest version of the iDrive control system which is joined by an 80Gb hard drive, high definition TV displayed on an 8.8-inch screen.
Leather sports seats are standard and aluminium, Birch grain or Maple grain fine-wood trim accents are chosen by the customer. Pricing for the new models (not including government or delivery charges) is listed below.
