Range-topping sportscar makes its Australian debut

Having begun taking orders for its new offering last year Lotus Cars Australia used the public reveal of the Evora to announce how much it will cost. It is due to land in dealership in the third quarter of this year.

The 3.5-litre V6 will be available in either two-seat or 2+2 configuration with prices starting at $162,990 and $169,990 for the respective models.

"The Evora is quite possibly one of the most relevant sports cars of the moment," says Jonathan Stretton, general manager of sales and marketing for LCA.

"In a time where carmakers are striving to produce lighter, more fuel-efficient vehicles, Lotus is already there -- and it always has been."

Lotus claims the Toyota-sourced engine will propel the 1350kg car from 0-100km/h in five seconds.

Work is already underway fine-tuning the car to Australian road conditions.

The Carsales Network spotted the Evora undergoing local suspension and hot weather testing in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains last week with British engineers.
