Toyota has announced a limited edition variant of its strong-selling Kluger SUV just in time for the end of financial year sales. Known as the Kluger Altitude, the special edition is based on the entry-level Kluger KX-R seven seat wagon, but offers thousands of dollars in extra equipment for just a small increase in price.
Included in the generous package, Kluger Altitude gains 19-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps, black roof rails, an electric tilt and slide sunroof plus the parent-pleasing bonus of a roof-mounted rear seat DVD player.
Available in two- and four-wheel drive guise, the Kluger Altitude is powered by a gutsy yet fuel efficient 3.5-litre V6 engine. Developing 201kW of power, the frugal unit returns a combined fuel consumption figure of just 11.0L/100km.
All new Toyota Kluger models score a five-star ANCAP safety rating thanks to standard stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes with brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution, and the added peace of mind of seven airbags -- all included as standard.
Priced from $45,990 for the two-wheel drive model and $50,490 for the all-paw variant (usually $43,490 and $47,990 respectively), the limited edition Kluger Altitude is in showrooms now.
