The flexibility of seven seats is a strong drawcard for family buyers, even if used only as a temporary solution for the influx of the kids' weekend teammates. Now, Nissan has offered its popular Dualis with this family-friendly alternative in the new, longer and taller Dualis+2.

Its wheelbase extended by 135mm, Nissan Dualis+2 gains a total of 211mm in overall length to offer a stow-away third row seat for two passengers and superior 550-litre cargo capacity (140-litres more than the Dualis five-door model.) The added space equates to 15mm of added kneeroom and 10mm extra headroom.

Nissan says the third-row seat is suitable for children or adults on "occasion trips". Incidentally, the kerb weight has also increased, but only by 100kg.

The second-row seat slides forward and aft (in a 60:40 split) for increased flexibility, or to load the troops, its backrest folding 40:20:40 for added cargo carrying versatility. Underfloor storage is also offered where a standard, retractable cargo cover can be stored when not in use. The compartment's lid also doubles as a cargo divider, while the load height is reduced by 13mm for easier loading and unloading.

Styling and amenity levels remain identical to the five-seat model with two model grades on offer: ST and Ti. The Dualis+2 is available in both two and all-wheel drive format and features Nissan's lightweight 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. The all-aluminium unit develops 102kW of power and 196Nm torque.

The Dualis+2 is offered exclusively with a CVT (continuously variable transmission). Consumption rating for a combined average is 8.5L/100km in two-wheel drive configuration. CO2 emissions are 199g/km.

On sale now, the Dualis+2 is priced as follows:
Nissan Dualis+2 ST 2WD - $29,990
Nissan Dualis+2 Ti 2WD - $34,690
Nissan Dualis +2 Ti AWD - $36,890
