Volvo's new S60 range was unveiled at the Australian International Motor Show (AIMS) in Sydney today, the premium sedan boasting a raft of luxury features and new technology certain to place it well ahead of same-priced rivals.
Following Volvo's recent launch of the new mid-size S60 in Portugal, today's preview shows the Swedish brand has upscale marquee like BMW squarely in its sights.
New suspension, a revised all-wheel drive system and new engine range sees S60 offered in three guises Down Under, each recognized by alpha-numeric badging to designate engine size. The sprint from rest to 100km/h is dealt with is as little as 6.1 seconds for the range topping S60 T6.
"The all-new Volvo S60 range will bring a new level of excitement, performance and style to the Volvo brand," said Volvo Car Australia managing director, Alan Desselss. "We have high expectations for this model and believe it will be a key part of our aggressive growth plans for 2011 and beyond."
Optionally, a Driver Support Pack sees the new S60 include the latest in safety technology including Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake and Pedestrian Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist Function, Lane Departure Warning, Driver Alert Control and Blind Spot Identification System.
The additional safety equipment is available on all S60 models for just $4990.
Volvo will launch with the S60 T6 and D5 in December and the T5 model will follow in March.
