Topless but rugged up, BMW's high-performance cabrio is snapped in the field

Nurburgring just seems to attract high-performance test vehicles like moths to a flame. Barely a week after BMW's M6 coupe was snapped by the spy photographers at Carparazzi, a drop-top version was seen in the same vicinity.

Specifications are believed to be as for the coupe, according to Carparazzi. That should place the M6 Cabrio at a significant advantage against Audi's R8 Spyder. Like the coupe then, the Cabrio is expected to develop 430kW of power or thereabouts, from its twin-turbo V8 displacing 4.4 litres.

The Carparazzi folk believe that the Cabrio will be released at the same time as the coupe, which is a reasonable assumption. Both cars are expected to arrive in German showrooms around the 3rd or 4th quarter of next year. What that means for Australia will largely depend on international demand for the high-performance variants. If the M6 is out soon enough in Germany and supply for Australia is not constrained by supply, we could see the car here before the end of 2011.
