Renault has introduced a new level of trim to underpin the Koleos range. Named the Koleos Expression, the new base model is front-drive only and powered by the 2.5-litre petrol engine. Buyers can opt for either the standard six-speed manual transmission or the optional CVT.

Prices are $28,490 for the manual variant or $30,490 for the CVT. During August, Renault is offering the manual Koleos Expression at a driveaway price of $29,990, provided the buyer doesn't order metallic paint.

Despite the affordable price, the Koleos still comes equipped with cruise control/speed limiter, Bluetooth connectivity, audio controls on the steering wheel, air conditioning and MP3-compatibility for the audio system. There's also keyless entry, 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lights and integrated safety features to justify a five-star Euro NCAP rating.

These include six airbags (including side-curtain airbags), anti-lock brakes with EBD, stability control, front-seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters.
