Suzuki has found further improvements in the sub-light Alto hatch's fuel economy figures thanks to the addition of Falken low-rolling resistance tyres.

Stretching Alto's fuel efficient image even further, the new hoops see combined fuel economy averages drop to an impressive 4.7L/100km on manual models and 5.3L/100km on automatic variants (previously 4.8L/100km and 5.5L/100km).

CO2 emissions have also been reduced falling to 110g/km and 126g/km for manual and automatic models respectively from 113g/km and 130g/km.

"Alto is without doubt one of the best value car choices on the market and this economy upgrade is the added proof," said Suzuki Australia general manager, Tony Devers.

"It ranks amongst the greenest vehicles on the planet and has a starting price almost three times less than that of any hybrid vehicle.

"It is the practical, quality, low-running cost vehicle that also offers great performance, high levels of safety and now even better fuel economy."

One of Australia's cheapest new cars, the Suzuki Alto is priced from $12,490 drive away.
