The Blue Oval brand has aggressively repositioned the upgraded MkII Falcon range (including Ute models) at a lower price point, featuring added standard kit.

"The improvements we're making to the award-winning Falcon range with the introduction of FG Falcon MkII, combined with the strong value proposition presented by the revised list pricing, highlight the attractiveness of our large car package – a car designed, engineered and built in Australia to meet the needs of Australian customers," Ford Australia President Bob Graziano was quoted as saying in a press release today.

On average, the Falcon variants represent at least $3000 worth of added value — between price cut and upgraded specification — with the G6E and G6E Turbo models offering buyers a gain in excess of $8000 worth.

At the low end of the scale, the Falcon XT is now priced at $37,235 — a reduction of $3055 from the manufacturer's list price for the previous model counterpart. In addition, the XT gains $1050 worth of standard features for an all-up retail incentive of $4105. According to Ford, the extra equipment in the XT model comprises a USB port for the audio system, side-curtain airbags and reverse parking sensors. The XR6 will come with an 8.0-inch colour touch screen multimedia centre, USB integration, 18-inch alloy wheels, side curtain airbags, reverse sensing system and projector headlamps — and will now be priced from $39,990, a $3000 discount. Ford claims that XR6 buyers will be rewarded to the tune of $5650 in total.

G6E and G6E Turbo models are now fitted as standard with of the 8.0-inch colour touch screen multimedia centre incorporating a satellite navigation system, LED position lamps, an alarm and new, larger diameter alloy wheels. Ford claims that, along with a price reduction of $3655 (G6E) and $2755 (G6E Turbo), the two variants have been value-adjusted by over $8000. A full breakdown of pricing and equipment follows below.

"FG Falcon MkII represents the most advanced, most comprehensively equipped and best value large car Ford Australia has ever produced," Graziano said.

"With fresh exterior styling, a host of new features and the latest smart technologies boosting Falcon's already extensive equipment levels, together with a customer-focused new pricing strategy, it delivers outstanding value for large car buyers and builds on the rich heritage of the Falcon brand."
