Audi has released limited edition versions of the R8, RS5 and TT RS, and will offer the S3 Sportback Limited Edition and A1 ‘Competition Kit’ models early next year.
The R8 Carbon Edition treatment is applied to both the coupe and the Spyder. Audi says the packaging, which includes 19-inch alloys in five twin-spoke design and carbon-fibre exterior trim, is valued at around $38K. The premium for the Carbon Edition is $10,900 over the usual R8 range pricing. Only 10 will be delivered to Australia.
The RS 5 Limited Edition model -- 25 for local showrooms -- is available with Audi’s high-end suspension and ride control system as an option. Standard-fit equipment includes 20-inch alloys in five-arm Rotor design, sports exhaust system and panoramic sunroof. Pricing is the same, starting at $175,300.
Limited to 45 for Australia, the TT RS introduces the seven-speed s tronic transmission to the coupe range. Pricing again remains the same, from $139,900 but the limited edition models include 19-inch alloys (also in Rotor design), sports exhaust system, adaptive headlights and black exterior package.
Available early 2012, the S3 Sportback five-door limited edition includes 18-inch Rotor alloys, flat-bottomed sports steering wheel and Audi’s MMI Navigation Plus. The brand says the package is valued at over $9000, for $2800. Sixty Limited Edition S3 Sportbacks will be available, from $74,500.
The A1 will be available in ‘Competition Kit’ next year. Upgrades include a lower front spoiler and larger roof spoiler which brings quite a mean look to the hatch. Fifty are on offer, at no extra over the price of the A1 1.4 TFSI Ambition model.
Launching the Limited Edition models at The Farm racetrack outside Sydney, Audi Australia’s managing director Uwe Hagen said:
“We are in a nice position… I wouldn’t say nothing is missing but we are relaxed with what we achieved. It’s been a really great year, although the market conditions in Australia were getting harder.”
Hagen listed Audi’s highlights for the year, including winning the Le Mans 24 Hour race which he admitted “came down to seconds”. Audi will also appear at Bathurst again for next year’s 12 Hour event.
