The range-topping xDrive30d has this week joined the X3 lineup.

Powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbodiesel the model sits at the pointy end of the X3 range, and is priced to suit at $74,990.

Power is put to the ground via an eight-speed automatic transmission, a raft of BMW EfficientDynamics technologies – including brake energy regeneration, idle stop/start and electric power steering – driving the car's fuel economy average to a low 6.0L/100km.

In contrast to the previous model, the new X3 xDrive30d also boasts an increase in output, the power figure now 190kW (up 30) and torque value 560Nm (up 60). CO2 emissions are reduced by 47g/km to 159.

Standard features include 18-inch alloy wheels, auto tailgate operations, leather upholstery and electric driver's seat adjustment. Also standard is the X-Line package which adds decorative 'satinated' aluminium mouldings to the window frames and side sills, similarly finished roof rails, and titanium inserts in the front and rear bumpers.

Completing the X3 lineup in Australia the new BMW X3 xDrive30d is available in showrooms now.

BMW X3 Australian pricing:
- X3 xDrive20d $62,200
- X3 xDrive28i $71,900
- X3 xDrive30d $74,900
