Jaguar will reveal its most potent series production car ever at next month's Geneva International Motor Show.

The all-new XKR-S will not only broaden the current XKR range, but will enter the Jaguar line-up as a nod to the 50th anniversary of the legendary E-Type. Celebrations for the Jaguar E-Type will take place this year in Geneva where the original car was launch by the marque's founder, Sir William Lyons, half a century ago.

The Jaguar XKR-S features an uprated supercharged V8 engine atop overhauled suspension and aerodynamic tweaks. Jaguar says its latest model is the 'ultimate expression of its long held duality of purpose: GT luxury with incredible performance'.

Developing 404kW/680Nm, the XKR-S can accelerate from standstill to 100km/h in 4.2 seconds and to 160km/h in 8.6 seconds. Top speed is claimed to be 300km/h.

Jag says the combination of these attributes not only make the XKR-S the quickest Jaguar ever, but also the most agile, responsive and driver focused. Like all XKRs, the new coupe exploits a strong yet lightweight aluminium body architecture to maximise handling and economy. CO2 emissions are said to be 'best in class', with a combined tally of 300g/km.

Further enhancing the XKRs nimble handling characteristics are bespoke changes to the front and rear suspension settings and a reprogrammed Adaptive Dynamics system.

"The XKR-S is a bold and exciting new model for Jaguar," said Jaguar's new Global Brand Director, Adrian Hallmark.

"We expect to attract both loyal and new Jaguar driving enthusiasts who still want the comfort, opulence and class only a Jaguar can offer, combined with inspirational performance."

Speaking of the E-Type's golden anniversary, Jaguar's current design director, Ian Callum, is fervently prepared to celebrate the classic model's influence.

"It is impossible to overstate the impact the E-Type had," said Callum.

"Here was a car that encapsulated the spirit of the revolutionary era it came to symbolise. We're looking forward to celebrating achievement and looking forward with our all-new sports cars in Geneva."

Jaguar will launch the XKR-S at the Geneva Motor Show from March 1.
