Lexus Australia has committed to doubling its F Sport performance range, the brand's decision fuelled by strong sales in the sector.

The news comes less than 12 months after the introduction of the F Sport designation to the Lexus range, its IS 250 and IS 350 (as recently tested by motoring.com.au), the pair of models constituting 48 per cent of the luxury marque's IS 350 sales and 25 per cent of its IS 250 sales tally.

F Sport models offer visual and dynamic upgrades over standard vehicles.

Lexus says the popularity of its F Sport models is further bolstered by strong sales of its CT 200h F Sport model, which have made up 30 per cent of all CT sales since going on sale in April.

"F and F Sport has been a resounding success for Lexus, establishing itself as a genuine competitor for our rival's performance lines including M, AMG and RS," said Lexus Australia chief executive, Tony Cramb.

"Lexus is committed to growing its performance portfolio – with two more F Sport models destined for launch next year.

"Lexus is very excited about its continued performance push and sees it being just as important as its growing hybrid vehicle range."
