Volvo has announced a series of enhanced-value upgrades for its small car trio — C30 hatch, S40 sedan and V50 wagon — plus the XC70 offroad wagon.

The announcement follows hard on the heels of our report yesterday that the S60 sedan and V60 wagon had been revised for the 2012 model year. In a similar vein, the C30 hatch is now fitted as standard with reverse parking sensors and the High Performance audio system across the range. Previously these two items were optional (other than the parking sensors for the T5 R-Design) for an additional cost of $2000, according to Volvo. On average, the price of each C30 variant has risen by $500, the company claims.

The importer has specified two new colours for the 2012 C30: Hello Yellow and Caspian Blue; also offering two new contrast colours: Orange Flame and Terra Bronze. The Spider Diamond 17-inch alloy wheel is a new design added to the car's option list. A new variant is added to the range, the C30 T5 Lifestyle, providing buyers a ready-made variant fitted as standard with 17-inch Zaurak Diamond Cut alloy wheels, electrically-adjustable driver's seat, leather trim, Active Bending Lights (ABL), headlight washers, rain-sensing wipers, rear-seat centre armrest and a hard cargo blind.

For the S40 sedan and V50 Wagon, Volvo has also added T5 Lifestyle variants, with the same upgraded equipment specification as for the C30 counterpart. The only effective difference is the memory function for the powered driver's seat in the sedans and wagons. All S40 and V50 models now feature standard reverse parking sensors, retractable external mirrors, electrochromatic rear view mirror and the High Performance audio system. Bluetooth, already standard for the S40 and V50, will now stream audio from an external source.

Caspian Blue is also added to the colour palette for the S40 and V50, replacing Barents Blue. All S40s are now finished in body colour around the bumpers and wheel arches. Volvo has dropped the prices of the sedan and wagon by as much as $3960 for the R-Design models.

Along with its compact passenger-car range, Volvo's wagon-like SUV, the XC70 has also been worked over lightly. There's a Teknik option pack now available with both the 3.2-litre petrol six and the newly adopted twin-turbo diesel, now developing 158kW of power.

Features of the Teknik pack comprise satnav, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), Active Bending Lights (ABL) and electrically-adjustable front-passenger's seat. City Safety is now offered as an option for the XC70, bundling with it Driver Control Interface, Volvo Sensus, Adaptive Cruise Control/Full Auto Brake, Pedestrian detection and Queue Assist.

Standard features across the range now run to a power tailgate, High-Performance audio/seven-inch colour display and a reversing camera. Volvo has introduced new LED lighting for the floorwells and behind the floating centre fascia. LED lighting has also been adopted for the indicators in the exterior mirrors.
