Kia revealed more to its Soul at this week's opening of the New York International Auto Show.
The refresh of its blocky but funky style high-rider has come early -- just two years after release -- but Kia believes its Soul deserves more attention and has added latest 'must-haves' like LED daytime running lights and the option of high-end stereo system.
Kia's cool coach has also received body "streamlining" in terms of a remodelled bonnet and new front and rear bumpers.
The version on display at the NYIAS featured leather interior trim to match exterior colour, satellite radio and navigation, and front passenger seat heating.
Soul's performance has been boosted with the addition of a newly-developed Hyundai-Kia direct injection 1.6-litre engine, rated at 100kW/166Nm.
In the North American market, at least, the Soul will also be available with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol unit. Both are offered with either six-speed manual or six-speed automatic.
The new Soul won't arrive in local showrooms until next year but stay tuned for pricing and Australian specification details.
