RENAULT MEGANE

Renault is expected to update its Megane range next year and has been caught testing heavily-clad prototypes

Renault is either perfecting a new, mobile tent or is keen to hide whatever lies beneath all the white covering.

While the profile – and the roof rails – of the prototype caught testing on European public roads indicate it’s a Megane Sport Tourer wagon (not sold in Australia), it is the heavily-clad front and rear ends we are more interested in.

But as you’ll see in the Carparazzi spy pics Renault’s team has been so generous with the white cladding that the only thing not hidden is that it has something to hide.

What has been reported, although nothing so far has appeared to support it, is that the facelift will bring a much more masculine look to the small Renault, inspired by the electric DeZir Concept coupe seen at the 2010 Paris motor show.

All that can really be said at the moment is that Renault is expected to give the Megane a refresh at front and rear for the 2012 model year and these photos show the company is working towards that end. Or maybe it is just planning a special Halloween edition . . .
