Lotus has revealed its range topping Evora will be heavily reduced in price, just as the importer had already announced for its Elise and Exige models last week.

Further, the hand crafted, hand built Evora will be bolstered by the addition of two more models to its range, the automatic Evora IPS and performance enhanced Evora S.

For entry-level Evora 2+2 nearly all of the model's previous options are now included as standard spec, meaning a value add of $18,000 when viewed against its predecessor.

Mid-range buyers are now presented with the option of an automatic Evora for the first time. The Evora IPS using a six-speed, Toyota-sourced transmission which is offered with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifts and switchable sport mode.

Lotus says the addition of a self-shifting gearbox to the range offers the ease of use and convenience of a conventional automatic with the responsiveness and effective application of performance expected of the Lotus ethos.

Meanwhile, at the pointy end of the model range Evora S uses a tweaked Harrop HTV 1320 supercharger to extract even more power from its 3.5-litre V6 engine, the output figure now tallying 257.5kW. 0-100km/h times are rated at 4.8 seconds, while top speed rises to 277km/h. Combined cycle fuel consumption is claimed to be 10.0L/100km.

"These changes reflect the strength of the dollar, our plans to grow Lotus in Australia and requirement to ensure Australian Lotus dealers have a strong and viable business that will enable them to prepare their businesses for the arrival of the next generation of Lotus products," said Lotus Australia's general manager, Glen Sealey.
