With more classic models than an over 28’s night Shannons’ Sydney Summer Auction has something for every budget

An Australian theme will underline Shannons’ Sydney Summer Auction on February 20 as nine home-grown classics up for grabs.

Headlining the auction is a well restored 1957 Holden FE Special sedan. Finished in Shoreline Beige this model features a number of rare period extras certain to see it fetch a princely sum. Shannons is quoting a guiding range of between $18,000 and $24,000.

Equally desirable, a two-tone Ivory over Saltbush Green 1964 Holden EH Special sedan is presented “as is” in an unrestored condition. This highly original model is fitted with a 149ci ‘red’ motor and three-speed manual transmission. Shannons is quoting a guiding range of between $20,000 and $25,000.

Muscle car enthusiasts will appreciate an ivory and black 1976 Holden LX Torana SL/R 5000 sedan. Offered for sale with no reserve the model is not fitted with its original engine. Despite this, Shannons estimate the model will still fetch upwards of $25,000.

Keeping the ‘Australia’s Own’ theme running, a customised 1955 Holden FJ sedan with VN Commodore running gear is expected to attract bids between $14,000 and $18,000, while a rare 1962 Holden EK Special station wagon is offered for sale with no reserve. It is likely to attract bids of up to $12,000.

Ford fans are not forgotten with the opportunity to acquire a collectable 1968 Ford XT Falcon GT in polar white. The model is one of just 317 examples to be fitted with an optional three-speed automatic. Shannons are quoting a guiding range of $35,000 to $40,000.

Other Fords available at auction include a “largely original” 1969 Ford XW Falcon sedan fitted with the model’s base 221ci six-cylinder engine and three-speed manual transmission ($10,000-$15,000) and a two-owner 1970 Ford ZD Fairlane ‘K’ Code with 351ci V8 engine and T-bar automatic transmission. Having travelled 128,687 miles since new, Shannons expect bids of between $24,000 and $30,000.

Finally, Chrysler enthusiasts have the chance to bid on a rare 1966 Valiant VC Wayfarer ute. The model has undergone a refresh of its mechanical and cosmetic components which includes the fitment of a rare 273ci V8 engine and three-speed automatic transmission. Indicating just 59,323 miles, of which the vendor believes to be genuine, it is expected to fetch between $18,000 and $24,000.

The Shannons Sydney Summer Auction will be held on February 20.
