Ferrari's "most versatile car ever produced", the FF has shown its abilities in the snow at the hands of former World Rally Championship driver Markku Alen. Perfect for the weekend, here's some video demonstrating both the Ferrari and Alen's prowess on a slippery surface.
This time in northern Sweden, Alen takes to the 14km Forest track in Ferrari's latest offering as if the now 60-year-old had never retired. The Finnish racer is regarded for his success in ice racing events.
The four-seater Ferrari uses the maker's four-wheel drive system, called 4RM and boasts an aluminium body and chassis for a light 1790kg dry (or 1880kg fuelled) weight. That's comparable to the 612 Scaglietti's weight despite the FF's larger dimensions and added 4WD system. Front-to-rear weight distribution is 43:57.
A 6.3-litre V12 rated at 486kW/683Nm muscles the FF from standstill to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds. Front-to-rear torque is managed by Ferrari's own F1-Trac system in combination with its E-Diff to control left-to-right rear axle torque.
The FF's engine is also more economical than the Scaglietti's thirsty 5.7-litre V12, at 15.4L/100km versus 20.7L/100km. The savings are in part due to the FF's start/stop system, and also the application of a Getrag-sourced seven-speed automatic which Ferrari claims has a "zero shift time".
The Ferrari FF is available for order now, starting at $625,000.
