Diesel SUV makes its debut in Australia priced below $26,000

A new diesel SUV, the X200, is set to join Great Wall Motors' product range in Australia, from April.

Basically a diesel variant of the X240 model, the X200 is powered by a common-rail turbodiesel displacing 2.0 litres. According to the distributor, peak power is 105kW and the engine produces 310Nm of torque for a combined-cycle fuel consumption of 7.6L/100km.

Pricing will start from $25,990 (inclusive of on-road costs) for the six-speed manual variant, rising to $28,990 (also driveaway) for the five-speed automatic option. Standard equipment includes leather upholstery, air conditioning, alloy wheels, electric mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, Bluetooth connectivity, remote controls on the steering wheel, electric windows and a touch-screen infotainment system comprising six-speaker MP3-compatible audio system.

Offering dual front airbags and mandatory stability control with anti-lock brakes and electronic brake force distribution, the X200 ups the ante for safety features with a reversing camera, rear parking sensors and a tyre-pressure monitoring system.

Every X200 sold will be covered by a three-year/100,000km warranty.
