My 1966 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow is now up for sale. . Only travelled 119000 miles (not KM) .
• Fully restored
• Five owner car, the first two in the UK. The second owner took it the USA where the car was then sold to the third owner, from Maine, before it was bought in May 1983 by an Australian while working in Boston. Two years later it went with the owner to Hong Kong, before both returned to Australia in 1991. The Series 1 Shadow then underwent a complete back to bare metal body restoration and respray in its original Shell Grey in 1993, at the same time the seats were reupholstered in red Connolly leather and all woodwork refinished and clear lacquered. Well known Rolls Royce specialist Robert McDermott rebuilt the 6.2 litre V8 (at 110,000 miles) in 1998, and the hydraulics were overhauled at the same time. It has the 4 speed transmission. The only modification along the way is that the rear levelling system has been disconnected and new rear springs fitted which maintain the correct ride height. I bought the car in 2021 at shannons auction from the owner who I understand had the vehicle from 1983. The car now shows 119,000 miles and is in great condition, as the photos show. The Shell Grey metallic paint is in great shape with only a little pickling to the brightwork.. Front bumper rechromed early this year. Inside, the red leather is in great condition with matching carpets, and beautiful woodwork. There is a little wear to the driver’s door armrest and trim, and a small nick in the passenger’s door trim, otherwise it all looks great. . Serviced regularly by specialists, including the last 5 years at Matt's Automotive. The ’66 Silver Shadow comes with an Owner’s Handbook, a copy of the maintenance manual (6 volumes), various diagrams, service records, receipts and copies of original factory build documents.
The car drives beautifully and is as good as it looks. Heater works great - Aircon struggles! Now as I downsize, it is time to pass on to the next generation of enthusiasts. Currently on club registration with Rolls Royce owners club (Vic).
