This luxury 1967, rare, Jaguar 420 has been awarded the GOLD Medal at the September 2026 All British Day, by the Jaguar Driver Club Of NSW.
Jaguar manufactured less than 10,000 of this model, and at the time it was the fastest selling model they had ever released. It was replaced by the XJ-6, and included many features in that new model. including the engine, gearbox, suspension front and back, and was marketed by Jaguar in the USA and the 'Sedan version of the XK-e sports car'.
This 2026 GOLD medal award result reflects the quality of a full 'body off' restoration some 20 years ago by the leading Adelaide Jaguar service company. A full set of reciepts is available on request, with a total expenditure exceeding $160,000 20 years ago. There was a NO COMPROMISE approach to this project.
We are selling this stunning example as we simply have too many cars in our apartment and my wife has directed me to 'sell sell sell'.
Work undertaken in this 5 year process includes:
-Bare metal body restoration and paint, replacement of all rubbers and trim components, re-chome parts as needed
-Replacement of full interior using Connerly Leather on original seats and leather trims and re-do all wood work
-Repair and replace any faulty instruments, and convert speedo to kph
-Full 4.2 Litre engine replacement with a fully refurbished XK-E 4.2 litre engine and all related components.
-Replacement of Auto gearbox from the original Borg-Warner Model 8 to a more modern Borg Warner Model 12 as used in later XK-E Jaguars, this gearbox is exactly the same externally, but provides significantly improved fuel economy and direct connection to the motor.
-Full maintenance of all suspension rubbers and shocker absorbers to modern standards.
-Update and replacement of disk brakes and pads as needed to give smooth power braking
-Installation of 5 new Jaguar chrome wire wheels and suitable tyres
.-Installation on an internal modern air-condition unit that works like a modern car
More recent work includes
-Replacement of most lights with LEDs
-Fire extinguisher in boot
-Battery cut-out switch
-Low Amp trickle charger connection to battery
-Improved lighting in the boot, dashboard , passenger floor areas and under the hood.
-Installation of modern compatible electric front headrests
-Replacement of headlining and sun visor coverings with modern period compatible fabrics.
-Installation of Apple CarPlay (And Android) for 'hands free' communication and connection to maps, radio, reversing camera, and other features
-New battery
-Modern world-class sound proofing for highway cruising
-Automated headlights ON when it is dark, such as in my garage or Sydney tunnels
Car has excellent tyres, and is on club plates.
The car has been under the care & maintenance of a leading Brookvale Jaguar expert, the GOLD medal award is a credit to their excellent work to maintain the standard of excellence that the car had after full reconditioning.
