Selling my Jaguar Series 1 XJ6 known as Felix. I have owned Felix since 2011 and am the second owner. Felix was a barn find from deceased estate in Werribee. When I purchased him, he had no gearbox, had been off the road for a number of years, and uwas not in a great state. He became a project of a rolling restore and ongoing maintenance. Bonus with Felix having been off the road and under cover for so long, he has almost no rust. Further, just before he went off the road, his engine had been replaced with a lighter, stronger series 2 motor and built for gas. I had him taken off gas, but as a result he runs on unleaded without the need for additives.
So, Felix is not a matching numbers car, as both the engine and gearbox have been replaced, but he has been properly maintained and all receipts from my ownership over the last 15 years are available. In terms of a rebuild, below I have listed the major works done during my ownership, starting from front to rear:
1. Radiator and water pump replaced
2. Air Conditioner (factory fitted) rebuilt
3. Fitted with electronic ignition
4. Front brake calipers rebuilt
5. Front suspension, new shocks and springs
6. Carburetors rebuilt
7. Alternator replaced
8. Gearbox fitted
9. Indicator stalk replaced
10. New carpet sourced from England installed (BAS International)
11. Leather interior reconditioned
12. Interior headliner replaced
13. Differential rebuilt
14. Fuel tank replaced
The paint work is original and although a little tired, presents well. I have been told by more than one Jaguar specialist, that although they have seen better presented cars, in terms of looks, there are none much better in terms of their mechanical state. Felix starts and drives well, and other than the clock, everything works. He is on full reg until June next year, with personalised plates identifying him as a Series 1 XJ6. If you are looking for a Series 1, you could do a lot worse than have a look and consider Felix.
So why am I selling. We're downsizing and I have more than one Jag. There is also a Mark 2 sitting in the garage, so Felix, as much as I love him, needs to find a new owner to continue looking after him and enjoying the drive.
