Up for sale for the first time in 32 years, is my 1987 Daimler Double-Six that has travelled only a genuine 128,000kms.
The car starts, runs and stops, faultlessly, and it drives like new. The V12 is turbine smooth and the transmission shifts effortlessly and silently. The car wafts along exactly as it should, and had breathtaking power for overtaking, whenever required.
The car tracks straight and true, on the refurbished and balanced Kent alloy wheels and silent Pirelli p5 Cinturato tyres.
The brakes are work efficiently to bring the car to a quick and easy halt, without any drama.
The car was originally bought by a doctor in the UK, who owned it for 7 years, before my father bought it as a retirement present for himself. The car came over to Australia in 2005, where it was compliance certified in Victoria. It then sat in a garage for 14 years with little use, although getting started occasionally and driven for fresh petrol.
I took on the car in October 2019 and have poured money and time into it, giving it the love it deserves. I have changed the oil and filter every 5000kms, and carried out all servicing as per the book.
I have upgraded the cooling system with a re-cored radiator, twin Spal electric fans, and Davies Craig fan controller, removing the mechanical fan entirely. The car now has a better throttle response due to the removed inertia of the fan, fan belt and pulleys. I have changed all cooling hoses, expansion tank and uprated cooling system bypass pipe. I also uprated the alternator to a 120A and high current wiring with fusible link, to safely handle the extra current draw from the fans.
Surface rust from under the battery tray, has been treated, repainted and then undersealed. I also replaced the timing chain adjuster plug (they leak oil), which can only be done with the radiator removed, and while I was there, I replaced the water pump and cleaned the front of the engine.
All suspension and anti-roll bar bushes have been replaced. All grease points and hubs have been re-greased.
I removed one of the fuel tanks that had internal surface rust, and treated it with POR-15 fuel tank treatment, so it can never rust again.
Bubbles of rust started to appear on the edges of the front and rear wind screens, so I had the screens taken out and the rust treated and resprayed professionally. There was rust in the sunroof panel, which was treated at the same time. I have a YouTube channel with videos of the improvements I have made to the car, and can pass on the details to potential buyers.
I have refreshed the ignition system with fresh plugs, leads, and distributor cap which improved performance. I have replaced the old injector hoses to eliminate the risk of engine fire.
The car has a modern Bluetooth CD player stereo with uprated front speakers.
The interior is about 9/10 condition, the driver’s seat shows that it has been used for 39 years, and yet much of the interior is in exceptional condition. The seat leather is soft, after treatment with saddle cream.
The classic black paint is in excellent condition, perhaps an 8/10 overall, but black cars do tend to announce their imperfections more readily than lighter colours. I think the black exterior and cream interior with walnut dash, are a classic combination.
The air-conditioning was re-gassed in September 2026 and blows ice cold.
The original plush floor mats are protected with extra mats on top, to ensure they remain in perfect condition.
The car will come with a Vic RWC, and any inspection is welcome, I will prioritise responding to enquiries from genuine buyers. Since the car is on a club permit, it is not registered, but of course can be by the new owner. This is a very economical way to own a V12 Jag, since all of the hard (and costly) work has been done. Now this car is finished I have moved onto other restoration projects.
