Build No.00148 of 8000 BMW Z1’s built between 1988 and 1991. One of 150 built for UK delivery. Third owner since new, with only 19711 miles. Full owner history.
Z1 was the first of BMW Z series of roadsters, originally designed as a concept but brought into small volume production commencing in 1988 with 8000 cars eventually built.
Features include doors that electrically slide down into door sills to open, thermoplastic and composite external panels, aerodynamic efficient undertray, roll hoop for passenger protection.
Chassis based on BMW E30 platform using a Z multilink rear suspension with a standard BMW 325i inline 6 engine with 5 speed manual transmission.
This vehicle was privately imported into Australia in early 2020 when restoration was commenced and completed in late 2022. Genuine OEM parts were used throughout, with the body panels superbly finished in original Urgruen green paint applied by a prestige sports car specialist body shop. A new replacement Z1 soft top was installed. A recent service has been performed, which included a complete brake and clutch fluid flush and replacement.
This car is a joy to drive, with the torquey 2.5 l engine, lovely clutch and gear change action, along with the excellent steering and ABS 4 wheel disc brakes. The car presents in beautiful condition throughout.
Included are other original Z1 BMW items (owners manual, service book, emergency toolkit, first aid kit).
