Modern Classic - 1996 Alfa Romeo 164 QV.
From 1990 to 1992, Alfa Romeo Australia sold a more sporting Quadrifoglio Verde version of the 164. This vehicle is widely known as the 164Q.
The Q has a subtle body kit, more supportive seats and more sporty 15" wheels. Under the bonnet, it also gets revised cams, higher compression(10.0:1) and a high flow intake manifold.
This gives a 147kW peak power output along with 265Nm of torque at 5800 and 4400 rpm respectively (a 15kW and 20Nm gain over the conventional 164).
Available only as a 5-speed manual, the Alfa 164Q can rip to 100 km/h in less than 8.0 seconds. Top speed is almost 240 km/h
In 1993, Alfa Romeo introduced the 164QV, enhanced with the most powerful 168kw 3.0 Busso V6 engine fitted to the 164, featuring 24-valves. Other upgrades includes more aggressive bodykit, slimmer profile headlights, 16" SZ style alloys. Inside, there were revised instruments and a centre console that featured more delineated switchgear. Unfortunately, this most powerful version of the 164 was never sold in Australia as Alfa Romeo exited the market in 1992.
We are pleased to offer this exceptionally rare and desirable Alfa 164 QV finished in stunning Alfa Red over its factory black leather QV interior in excellent original condition.
One of the rarest Busso-powered production RHD Alfas (believed to be less than 100 cars), this very late model QV's Alfa red coachwork is beautifully offset by the black lower body, a combination that allows those sleek Pininfarina lines to shine. The car rides on its original and very sought after 16" SZ style split-rim which are free of damage and completely unmarked. The interior has clearly been cherished, the electrically adjustable front leather seats are only very gently creased and still as supportive and comfortable as they were when they were fitted 30 years ago.
The world famous V6 24V Busso engine feels gutsy and it revs freely throughout the range providing a thrilling drive with a intoxicating soundtrack. This engine provides an extremely useable power band with instant torque and throttle response. The gearchanges are direct and short and the whole driving experience is very rewarding and addictive. The timing belt and water pump service has just been completed for extra peace of mind ownership.
Accompanying the car are all of its original manuals in the factory leather pouch, the often lost spare key, factory jack and spare wheel.
With less than a handful of QVs imported into Australia, this is a very rare opportunity to acquire one as they seldom come onto the market. This is the one to collect and enjoy.
