Rare, immaculately presented 1999 Honda S2000 (AP1): 42,500 km, totally original, comprehensive Honda dealer history
This is a rare find: a first-year, Australian-delivered AP1 S2000 with 42,500 genuine kilometres and three owners. It has never been modified, and it presents as new.
Cars like this are quite rare. Few early S2000s were sold here new, and most have since been modified, tracked or driven hard. A totally original, low-kilometre example with a full Honda dealer history is very hard to find, and opportunities like this don’t come up often.
Engine Spec:
2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder, double overhead cam, with VTEC
9,000 rpm redline
176 kW in Australian and European tune
208 Nm of torque
88 kW per litre. When it was released, that was the highest specific output of any mass-production naturally aspirated engine.
The car
42,500 km from new
Totally original and unmodified
Full service history, all done by Honda dealerships
New tyres, fitted less than 1,500 km ago
Original factory soft top with the original plastic rear window, a rarity in itself because most S2000s have had the top replaced
Original factory entertainment unit with the CD stacker, in full working order
Original Factory Air conditioning
Mechanically perfect: the F20C pulls cleanly all the way to its 9,000 rpm redline, and the 6-speed gearbox shifts exactly as it should
Everything works as it did when new
Interior
The interior is like new. The seats have no wear on the bolsters and the cabin has no damage. It’s an exceptionally fresh 27-year-old cockpit.
Exterior, honestly described
The car presents as new. These are the only marks, and you’d only notice them if you went looking:
A couple of small dimples in the passenger door
A light surface scratch on the driver’s side front guard
A light surface scratch on the front left plastic bumper
That’s all of it.
The S2000 was Honda’s 50th-anniversary roadster, and its F20C is still regarded as one of the great naturally aspirated four-cylinder engines. Early AP1 cars in this condition are the ones collectors want. Buy it to enjoy on weekends, or put it away as an appreciating classic.
Serious enquiries only. Inspection is welcome, and the service books are available to view.
