THE STORY:
The 2006 BMW M6 5.0L V10 was a sports-inspired grand touring coupe built from May 2005 to September 2010, with only 9,087 coupes in total available worldwide.
Extraordinary performance was provided by a naturally aspirated 5.0 litre S85 V10 engine which put out 373 kW (507 hp) and was known for it's high revving range. This particular V10 utilised Formula 1-inspired technology, including individual throttle valves and a lightweight aluminium-silicon alloy block, earning it the International Engine of the Year award in both 2005 and 2006.
The 7-speed SMG III sequential manual gearbox utilised electro-hydraulic actuators to manage clutch engagement and gear shifts via either steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters or a center console lever. Drivers can also select from 11 shift programs to customize shift speed and aggressiveness.
In addition, the cars were lightweight with a carbon fiber reinforced roof and hood, which contributed to an effortless 0 - 100 km/h time of only 4.6 seconds.
Not only are these models a pure expression of BMW's M Division heritage, they also come packed with features including; satellite navigation, front lumbar supported electronically adjustable leather seats, parking distance control, adaptive headlights, cruise control, television functionality, and much, much more.
