Overview
In line with current trends the Corolla Ascent has recently received stability control (VSC in Toyota speak), now making it a model wide standard fitment. Powered by a 1.8 litre DOHC in-line 4-cyl petrol engine it produces 100kW/175Nm. Fuel economy is quoted as 7.3 l/100km for the manual. Other safety features include ABS and driver/passenger airbags (with the upgrade option of curtain and knee bags). Never one to set the heart racing, the Corolla continues to hold the top sales position due to its complete mastery of how to make design, dynamics and general live-ability compromises work.
