ZRE172R Ascent Sedan 4dr S-CVT 7sp 1.8i (May) After more than 50 years on the local market, Toyota's Corolla moves into its 12th generation. The bigger-in-all-directions Corolla hatch comes in Ascent Sport, SX and ZR forms and gets an efficient new 125kW/200Nm 2.0-litre engine (6.0L/100km for CVTs, 6.3L/100km for the single manual version), plus a swag of standard safety equipment. This brings across-the-range autonomous emergency braking, lane departure alert with steering assist, speed-limit sign recognition, pedestrian detection at night and cyclist detection during the day. Sat-nav is standard in SX and ZR, while CVT models also get all-speed active cruise control. A 4.2L/100km hybrid version, available in all hatchbacks, continues.
