This Jeep Cherokee is the Trailhawk option - which is meant to be a measure of its off-road ability. This vehicle has, however, rarely been off bitumen - if you ignore the potholes on the local roads in my council area - and has essentially been used as a grandchildren’s transport. It is lovely and comfortable to drive, and returns its best fuel economy on expressway journeys.

KL MY21 Trailhawk Wagon 5dr Spts Auto 9sp 4x4 3.2i Jeep's mid-size Cherokee SUV comes in front-drive Sport and all-AWD Limited, Trailhawk and S-Limited forms. Powerplants are a four-cylinder 130kW/229Nm 2.4-litre (Sport) and a punchier 200kW/315Nm 3.2-litre V6. AWD systems are either on-demand or, on the off-road-ready Trailhawk, dual-range off-road capable. A nine-speed auto gearbox is universally standard. Towing capacity is rated at 2.2 tonnes. Cabin and luggage space are competitive, while leather-trimmed power seats and sat-nav are standard on the up-spec Limited and Trailhawk. The S Limited gains a sunroof and larger 19-inch alloy wheels. Cherokees come with high and low-speed autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian avoidance, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist and blind-spot monitoring.
