The Jaguar XJR-15 was the brainchild of Tom Walkinshaw Racing to build a Le Mans style race car for the road. TWR enlisted the help of legendary designer Peter Stevens (who would go on to design the McLaren F1) to create a road-going version of the XJR-9. What resulted over a three year production period of 1990-1992 was the first fully Carbon Fibre and Kevlar car ever made. In total 53 units were produced of which the first 26 were road cars and last 27 were homologated specifically for racing. The engine was a 6.0L V12 producing 450bhp with a top speed of 307km/h. All vehicles were sold in only 1 colour being dark blue.
This vehicle is chassis #18 and was first sold new in the UK. Its previous owner brought the car to Australia in 2012 and undertook a lengthy ground up "nut and bolt" restoration. This included a full engine out rebuild, new alcantara trim, electronics and stripping the car back to the bare carbon fibre and respraying in its original colour. This vehicle has featured numerous times in Australian Unique Cars magazines and in online videos documenting the restoration. The vehicle has also appeared in Australia’s premiere motoring event, Motorclassica. The engine presents with a genuine 438 miles from new, not since the rebuild. The car presents today in concourse condition and is a truly rare vehicle making this highly sort after.
