2007 Australian Safari fast approaches

With less than three months remaining, the organisers of this year's Australian Safari are on track with their preparations. The Safari is open to entrants competing in cars or on bikes. A number of international competitors will be taking part in the event.

One of these competitors, Sean Linton, worked with BMW Motorsport for ten years and was Charley Boorman's instructor for the TV series, 'The Race to Dakar'.

Fellow Briton Steve Blackney has won the Middle East Moto-X Championship nine times. His entry in this year's Australian Safari is his third start in the event.

Clive Skilton from California will be sharing a vehicle with local, Colin Hunter, of Extreme Motorsports. Colin will be following Clive back to the USA later this year, to compete in the Baja 1000.

For those more into sight-seeing than pace-setting, an adventure tour program within the Australian Safari is also available.

Ron Rigby, Assistant Clerk of Course responsible for the Course and Safety has built up decades of experience setting up rally events in WA. He has assisted with the Western Australian round of the Australian Rally Championship and Telstra Rally Australia, the Aussie round of the World Rally Championship.

Ron has been over the course repeatedly in preparation for this year's event. Route instructions are finalised for half the route already and the southern section is currently in progress.
