These spy photos are of the 2011 Chevrolet Aveo, the North American version of the Holden Barina, which is expected to land in Australia in the first half of 2011.
General Motors previewed its new global city car at the 2010 Detroit motor show, in the form of the Chevrolet Aveo RS, a go-fast version of next generation Barina, but these spy photos reveal very little of the new model's specific design.
However it's the interior photography that will capture the attention of car spotters, with the spy photos -- courtesy of our master spy photographers at Carparazzi -- showing the interior of the new model clearly for the first time.
Boasting a slightly more contemporary dash style than the current Barina, the images also reveal steering wheel controls, suggesting that the new model will be fitted with a much higher level of specification than previously.
Many aspects of the interior design appear to mirror those seen on the Aveo RS concept shown at the 2010 Detroit motor show.
Engine types for the next generation Barina are expected to span various capacities, but the 1.4-litre turbocharged unit from the Aveo RS concept car is expected to find its way into high performance versions of the vehicle.
